In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Process: embryo Transfer
Most patients feel little to no pain during the embryo transfer procedure. Discomfort is comparable to a Pap smear, generally unpleasant but not painful. Some discomfort may occur if a full bladder is required for the transfer. Individual experiences can differ; however, severe pain is rare. This information helps manage patient expectations and reduce anxiety during fertility treatment.

Hi, it's Janelle with Ask a Surrogacy Expert. Our question is, does the embryo transfer hurt? Keeping in mind that everybody's different, I think most people would say no. And at the most, they just have a little bit of discomfort. That could be just because it does feel like a Pap smear, which is unpleasant but not necessarily painful most of the time. However, there might be some discomfort if they want your bladder to be full, things like that, but usually not too bad.
