Surrogacy for Gay & LGBTQ+ Parents
A Welcoming, Expert Path to Parenthood
Surrogacy is a powerful way for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and non‑binary people to grow their families. At Bright Future Families, you’ll find inclusive partners, clear guidance, and a team committed to protecting your rights and honoring your story. We do not collect any agency fees until you’ve accepted a match, so exploring your options isn’t a financial leap of faith.

Why choose Bright Future Families for Gay Surrogacy
LGBTQ+ affirming from day one. We support intended parents across the LGBTQIA+ spectrum and hold our clinics and partners to the same inclusive standards.
Legal protection you can trust. We refer you to attorneys who specialize in family‑formation law and typically work in states with favorable laws for same‑sex and transgender surrogacy, including pathways to place both partners’ names (or a single parent) on the birth certificate.
Deep community commitment. We’re members of GLAD, Gays With Kids, Connecting Rainbows, and our team trains through Family Equality’s Open Door program. One of our Owners, Ellen Trachman, has been recognized for service to the LGBTQ+ community.
Your Surrogacy Journey:
A Simple, Guided Process
The surrogacy process may seem overwhelming at first, but we guide you through every step with care and expertise. Here’s a simple breakdown of what to expect from start to finish.
Surrogate eligibility screening with BFF – From intake to clearing eligibility to become a surrogate.
Matching & clinic screening – We’ll guide you through medical and psychological evaluations.
Legal & Medical Steps – Work with professionals to ensure a smooth process.
Pregnancy & Support – Receive care, guidance, and compensation throughout.
Final Delivery & Connection – Help complete a family while being fully supported.

Paths to parenthood for different families
-
Select an egg donor, create embryos, and match with a surrogate who will carry the pregnancy.
Decide whose sperm to use (one partner or both) and how you’d like to build your family over time (e.g., future sibling plans).
Many surrogates are especially enthusiastic about helping LGBTQ+ parents—something you’ll feel in the matching process.
-
Many lesbian couples use IUI/IVF without surrogacy. If carrying a pregnancy isn’t possible or preferred, gestational surrogacy is an option, using your embryos (created with donor sperm) and a surrogate who carries. We’ll align the plan to your medical and family goals.
-
We coordinate with you and your clinic to design a plan that respects your gender‑affirming care and fertility goals—whether using previously preserved gametes, a donor, or other clinical options. We pair this with experienced legal counsel to ensure parentage is secure.
Choosing a surrogate who fits you
Finding the right surrogate is about shared values: communication style, location, openness to contact, birth preferences, and more. We’ll bring you vetted profiles that match your criteria and your clinic’s guidelines. Learn how we evaluate and align matches in Choosing a Surrogate.
Costs & financial clarity
We believe in transparent pricing and stress‑reducing milestones:
No agency fees until you accept a match.
Active‑duty military: 20% agency‑fee discount.
Application fee: $500; Matching fee: $10,000 (due at match acceptance); a monthly agency fee begins after you accept the match. See the full breakdown on Costs of Surrogacy.
