Hi, this is Danielle Gage, Case Manager with Bright Futures Families Surrogacy, with Ask a Surrogacy Expert. And today our question is: How do I explain surrogacy to others?

Our agency only works with gestational surrogacy, so for that purpose, I'm just going to reference gestational surrogacy. But the easiest way for me to explain it to others was just to explain it that you're babysitting for 10 months. Explain that this is not your biological child, and explain it's like caring and nurturing for a friend's baby for 10 months. And when you're done babysitting, the parents will take their baby home. Thank you for your question.
