Each surrogacy journey is unique. The relationship between intended parents and their gestational carrier as well as hospital procedures also vary and will determine what visiting will look like after the surrogate delivers the baby or babies.

Hi, it's Janelle Ibarra of Bright Futures Families Surrogacy with Ask a Surrogacy Expert. Our question is what is the normal visitation for after the baby or babies are born? This will vary depending on the hospital where the GC gestational carrier delivers. Oftentimes, usually what will happen is the GC will have her own room and the intended parents and baby will have their own room and they'll visit each other during the hospital stay. So, so that means that the GC and oftentimes her family will get to meet the baby. As far as whether they decide to meet up after after discharge is really dependent on the relationship, the timing, and just what works for everybody. If you have any questions, please let us know.
