Hi, this is Danielle Gage at Bright Futures Families Surrogacy with Ask a Surrogacy Expert. And today our question is: Why do my partner and I need a psychological evaluation in order for me to become a surrogate? So the psychological evaluation is a clinical interview with a mental health professional and they will assess the surrogate and her partner, if she has one, to ensure that not only the surrogate but also her partner is psychologically stable. This evaluation is done as part of the screening process and it must be done because surrogacy is very complex and it's an emotional journey. And I mean, honestly, that can present psychological challenges for some. And this psychological evaluation helps to make sure that the surrogate is mentally and emotionally prepared to handle the demands of carrying a child for someone else. Including your partner in that evaluation is really important too, as they are also impacted by the surrogacy journey and the mental health professional will want to make sure they are supportive and informed about the process. If you have any more questions about the psychological evaluation to become a surrogate, please reach out to us here at Bright Futures Families. Thank you for your question.
