Hi, this is Danielle Gage, case manager at Bright Futures Families Surrogacy with Ask a Surrogacy Expert and today our question is why can't I be gestational carrier if I've had the ADIANA or ESSURE procedure? Well, it's not that you definitely can't, but a coil is inserted into your fallopian tube which helps prevent you from getting pregnant naturally. And while blocking the fallopian tube is a non issue for IVF because a fertilized embryo is implanted directly into your uterus, the coil, there could be a chance that part of the coil is poking into your uterus. So you can have an examination with your OB or MFM at your own cost to be medically cleared to be considered. But there is still a risk that the coil could cause problems. And for surrogacy, everyone involved is really trying to minimize risk. We could mention this information to the intended parents and let them decide if they are comfortable moving forward despite the risk. But again, it's important to remember surrogacy is about minimizing risks and most intended parents wouldn't be comfortable with that level of risk. Thank you for your question.
