She even had an uncommon request during her surrogacy journey and didn’t realize it was unusual!
Did you know we have stories on our website from previous surrogates and new parents who worked with BFF on their surrogacy journeys?
Hi, it's Janelle of Bright Futures Families Surrogacy with Ask A Surrogacy Expert. Our question is what is the strangest dietary restriction that you've known of intended parents IPs to ask of their gestational carrier or GC surrogate? So we've come across a couple of interesting ones. Something to note though is that these are discussed right away and so it's not like you're matched. And then they say, oh, hey, by the way, we don't want you to eat X, Y and Z and it's going to be impossible for you to accomplish as a surrogate. So actually, personally, my journey, the intended parents didn't want certain types of plastic. I think it was plastic number seven, which was pretty easy. Didn't heat stuff in plastic anyway. And then I just changed using like different kinds of water bottles to having a specific metal one with a metal straw. So yes, I did that one. There were also other intended parents who have requested that they're for religious reasons that their GC not eat any pork. There have been other things like food dye or they wanted her to eat only organic or only a certain type of food like Thai or some, some type of food like that. And so actually given a stipend for that. But again, just remember that these are not just coming out of the blue. These are things that are discussed right away.
