How surrogacy works for Intended Parents

Hey, everyone, it's Jennifer White, CEO of Bright Futures Families Surrogacy, with this week's Ask Video with bonus Pickles the dog. She apparently wants to be in my lap, so she's going to help us. Today's question is: What happens if a surrogacy match doesn't work out? And sometimes it happens. It's, it's pretty rare, but it does happen. If it doesn't work out, then obviously we as an agent agency want to help gently support both sides through it breaking. Of course, we'll do anything in our power to help you if there is a chance that it could make. But we never want people to hold on to a match that isn't a good fit. Also, sometimes just medically, a match will break if on the intended parent side your match breaks. If it's before you have gotten to an embryo transfer, then we rematch you without any additional cost.

If it's after an embryo transfer, then there is going to be an additional cost, but it's going to be relatively minimal compared to the agency fees and unfortunately, you have to repay client costs and new legal and things like that. As a gestational carrier, it really depends why it broke. If it is due to medical, there's a good chance that you might not be able to move forward. But if it's for another reason, we can talk about why it is and see about the potential for rematching to see if we can find a better fit of a family for you. So I hope that helps.
