  • Delivering at home is generally not feasible, prioritizing safety due to potential complications.

  • Delivering at a birthing center is possible but limited, while home births are mostly ruled out because of safety risks.

    • This policy is based on the risk of unforeseen complications even if none occurred in prior births.

    • Ensuring intended parents and the company’s staff are close by during delivery is critical for quick response.

    • Safety concerns shape the decision to prefer hospital deliveries as the default option.

    • This approach reflects a commitment to minimizing medical risk and protecting all parties involved.

  • The delivery location discussion happens early in the process, before matching or pregnancy stages.

    • This ensures all parties understand and accept the safety protocols upfront.

    • It helps manage expectations and avoid last-minute changes or conflicts.

    • Clear communication on this topic supports smoother coordination and trust-building with clients.

Transcript: Callie Megel, intake coordinator with Bright Futures Families,  here for today's question. And today's question is, can I deliver at home or in a birthing center instead of a hospital? And the brutal answer to that is probably not. You might be able to deliver at a birthing center, but your house more than likely not. There is just so many complications that could occur. Not saying you had them in your previous birth, but intended parents and us want you to be, you know, arm's reach if those complications do happen. Your safety is our number one priority. But this is definitely talked about way before we look into matching and at a match meeting as well. So all this is well addressed before you even become pregnant.
