Hi, this is Danielle Gage, Case Manager at Bright Futures Families Surrogacy, and I'm here with today's topic, and we are talking about things people don't usually talk about in surrogacy, and the topic is the goodbye after birth. I would say one of the most emotional and beautiful moments in surrogacy is that goodbye after birth. And it often looks very different than people might imagine. It can be complicated and emotional in ways not many people like to talk about. Hormones shift, routines suddenly change, and it's completely normal for feelings of grief, sadness, or emotional heaviness to appear alongside pride and joy. These emotions don't mean regret or confusion about roles. They simply reflect the depth of this experience. Surrogacy holds space for both celebration and grief at some level. At the same time, gratitude for helping create a family while also processing the end of an intense and meaningful chapter of their lives. For most surrogates, the moment isn't about loss, but fulfillment. From the very beginning, the baby was never hers to parent. Her role was to help bring a child safely into the arms of their family. The goodbye is usually filled with tears and gratitude and pride and deep connection between everybody involved. It marks the end of an incredible journey built on trust and compassion and the beginning of a lifelong story for the parents and their child. Surrogates often feel empowered, honored, and forever connected to the journey to parenthood that they helped make possible. Surrogacy typically doesn't end with heartbreak. It ends with a family finally becoming whole. If you have any more questions or any topics you would like to discuss, just go to www.brightff.com to contact us and send in your question or topic.
